Maureen Newlon was a member of the swimming and diving team (1988-92). In 1990, she was a MAC Champion in two individual events and four relay events. Also, in 1990 she was named Honorable Mention All-American. She was the 1991 MAC Champion in the 400-yard medley-relay, 200-yard IM, 100-yard fly and 100-yard free. Newlon qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200-yard free relay, 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard free and 100-yard fly, where she became an All-American. She set and held four school records and qualified for the Olympic trials. In her four years at OU, she secured 23 MAC titles and was named MAC Swimmer of the Year twice.
