Ryan Kyes played 207 games for the baseball team from 1998-2001, the eighth-most in program history. Kyes still holds the program record with 67 career doubles. At the time of his graduation, he set program records with 268 career hits, which now ranks as the fourth-most in school history, and 198 runs scored, which now ranks as the second-most. Kyes still ranks third in career total bases (458), fifth in triples (9), eighth in at-bats (735), ninth in RBIs (158) and 10th in home runs (35). In his junior season, Kyes earned All-MAC Second Team recognition, piling up 82 hits and 140 bases, both of which still rank as the tenth most in a single season in program history. Kyes saved his best for his senior season, setting the school record for doubles with 32, which still stands, and runs scored with 73, which is now tied for second-most in program history. His .726 slugging percentage that season still ranks as the fifth-most in program history while his 162 total bases rank fifth, his 86 hits rank seventh and his 57 RBIs rank seventh. He earned All-America Second Team, All-Mideast Region and All-MAC First Team honors for his efforts in his final season as a Bobcat. Kyes was also recognized for his work in the classroom, receiving Third Team Academic All-America and Academic All-MAC recognition.
