John Frick was Ohio University’s first legitimate football All-American when he was named to the second team of the Associated Press selections in 1964. He was first team All-Mid-American Conference in 1964 when he led the Ohio University defense to the top rating in the league. He was third team Academic All-American in 1964. He played in the Sun Bowl of 1962, the Shrine East-West game of 1965 and the Senior Bowl of 1965. He lettered and started three years. He played on the MAC Championship team of 1963. He was drafted ninth by the New York Giants. He coached two years each at Ohio University and at the University of Cincinnati. On campus, he was a member of ODK, J-Club and Phi Delta Theta.
