Hall of Fame
Roy Cheran was a member of the men’s swimming and diving team from 1973 to 1976. He won All-Mid-American Conference all four years, was a 24-time MAC finalist (which is more than anyone in OU history), won 8 events, and set an Ohio record. He won the MAC 100-yard butterfly all four years from 1973 to 1976, and in doing so, he was the first to accomplish this in MAC history. In 1973, Cheran was MAC Champion (in record time) in the 200 IM. In 1974, he was on the winning 400-yard relay team that set a MAC record of 3:35.90. He also swam on the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relay teams. He was named Outstanding Swimmer at Ohio University during his four years. In 1975 and 1976, he served as team co-captain.
