Gus White was a member of the baseball team from 1918-1921, where he played second base and was captain of the championship team in 1920. At one point, he led the Ohio Conference in batting and had the highest batting average of any player who ever attended Ohio University. He won letters all four years for baseball. White played semi-pro in the Hocking Valley League and Eastern Ohio League.
