Samuel Shon lettered in four seasons as a quarterback for Ohio. After his freshman season, he started in every game for the Bobcats from ‘79-’81. He finished his career as a Bobcat with 11 records, setting a MAC/School record at the time for yards of total offense in a single game against EMU (395). He also set the season and career mark for Most Passing Yards, Most Passing Attempts, Most Passes Completed, and Most Yards of Total Offense. Shon also tied the then-record for Most TD Passes Thrown in a Season, with 14, and Most TD Passes in a Game, with 3. Shon finished his time at Ohio being named MAC Offensive Player of the Week 5 times, Second Team All-MAC in 1980, First Team All-MAC in 1981, Offensive Player of the Year in 1981, Second Team All-America by Football Magazine, and Honorable Mention All-America by AP.
