Dave Solomon was Swimmer of the Decade at Ohio University from 1960 to 1970. He won two-time All-American honors on Ohio University relay teams, swimming the butterfly in 1969 and 1970. He won seven MAC first places; held MAC records in the 200-yard individual medley, the 400-yard medley relay, and the 800-yard freestyle relay. In 1970, his teammates selected him “Best Senior Swimmer” on the squad. He won three varsity swimming letters at Ohio, and he was a member of the varsity “O” club. At his zenith, he ranked fifth in the nation. At the 1969 Maccabiah Games, Solomon won eight medals: three gold, four silver, one bronze. In winning the four silver medals, he finished second to roommate and teammate Mark Spitz, the seven-time gold medal winner of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany.
