Vernon Alden was a recipient of the Glenn C. Randall Lifetime Achievement Award. He served as the President of Ohio University from 1962-1969 and continued to serve as an advocate for Ohio Athletics until he passed away in June of 2020. During his tenure as president, his vision was instrumental in the funding, design, and construction of the Convocation Center. The Vernon and Marion Alden Basketball Suite was named in his honor. Dr. Alden was a member of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Advancement Board and continued to support, lead, and guide it until his passing.
