Paul Halleck was third in the nation in the discus with 161 feet, 5-5/8 inches, missing the United States Olympic team by six inches. He also held three shot-put and held two field records in his day in both the shot-put and discuss. He was elected as an end on one of Ohio’s first all-time, All-Star football teams, was an All-Buckeye end, and played fullback for Ohio University’s football team. Halleck was All-Buckeye at the end of his sophomore year and was All-Ohio in 1935 and 1936. He played professional football for the Cleveland Rams for two years as a fullback, following graduation from Ohio University.
