Pete McKinley was an All-Ohio and All-Buckeye Conference halfback in 1928. He was unanimously elected captain of his team and also selected by his teammates as "Most Valuable Player" in 1928. In football, he led both his team and the Buckeye Conference in scoring with 13 touchdowns and 20 points after touchdowns for a total of 98 points, 33 of which were scored in Buckeye Conference play. He was also a member of the baseball and basketball teams, lettering three times and two times, respectively. McKinley was a member of Phi Kappa Tau social fraternity as well.
