Russ Finsterwald quarterbacked the Ohio University teams of 1914 and 1915 (Ohio was 12-5-0 those years), and went on to receive his law degree from Syracuse University. He served as an assistant football coach in 1919 and head coach from 1920-1922 and also was head basketball coach. He was a Big Ten football official from 1929-1951 and served two terms as Athens Country Prosecuting Attorney from 1923-1927.
