John Canine was a unanimous All-Mid-American Conference First Team selection when he co-captained the 1970 Ohio team (20-5) to the league championship. Canine’s 1,149 career points ranked 5th when he played. He was also Academic All-American in 1970 with a 3.8 GPA in History and Government. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Canine earned three basketball letters and averaged 11.5 points as a sophomore, 15.9 points as a junior, and 18.8 points during his final season.
