Hall of Fame
A three-year letter winner for swimming and diving, Ned Steele served as captain of the Bobcats in 1969 and 1970. He was a member of three Mid-American Conference championship teams (1969, 1970, 1971). In 1969 and 1970, he won MAC titles in the 50 freestyle. He received All-America honors in the 50 freestyle in 1969. In addition, he anchored the 1970 400 Medley Relay team that won the league title. At the time, he set the school record for the 50 freestyle (:21.5) and the 100 freestyle (:47.5) as a sophomore. Steele graduated in 1971 with a BS in Journalism.
