Mike Echstenkamper was a Second-Team All-American outfielder, as well as a First-Team All-Mid-American Conference honoree in 1979. That year he had 50 hits in 118 at bats for a .424 average. He scored 29 runs, had 12 doubles, 31 RBIs, and 6 home runs. Echstenkamper finished his career after his junior season with 130 hits, had a .358 average, 25 stolen bases, 13 home runs, 79 runs scored, 74 RBIs, and a slugging percentage of .613. He eventually was drafted and signed professionally with the New York Yankees.
