Tom Murphy was a pitcher at Ohio University on the baseball team. He won 16 games and lost one in his first two seasons, giving him a percentage of .941. He struck out 193 men in two years. He was First-Team All-MAC. In 1965, Murphy was unbeaten with a perfect 10-0 mark, a 2.32 ERA, and 99 strikeouts. He then played with the California Angels for 12 years before going to Kansas City, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Boston, and then Toronto.
