W. Neal Wade was a five-time All-American at Ohio University. Neil helped the school to its highest finish ever nationally (a tie for 17th) with a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard breastroke and a seventh-place finish in the 100-yard breastroke. He was the first swimmer in the Mid-American Conference and one of the first in the nation to break one minute (:59.4) in the 100-yard breaststroke. Wade won three swimming letters; won the league 200-yard breastroke all three years and the 100-yard breastroke three straight times. He also won the MAC 200-yard individual medley and swam on the 400-yard relay team in 1970. He earned the title of co-captain in 1969 and 1970. Wade had a total of 10 first place finishes in MAC competition. He set four MAC records and helped Ohio to two MAC titles in 1969 and 1970.
