John Turk was First-Team All-Mid-American Conference in baseball twice in 1952 and 1953 as a catcher, and was a Second-Team choice in football in 1951 and honorable mention in 1952 at linebacker. He lettered three years each in baseball and football. He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1953. His career batting average was .327 and he hit .370 to help lead his team to the MAC baseball championship in 1953. He managed three minor league teams for the Phillies. A former Captain in the U.S. Air Force, John coached and taught at several Ohio High Schools, last at Willoughby South High School.
