Larry Lee Thomas was a First-Team All-American outfielder in 1962, Larry was All-Mid-American Conference three years (1960, ‘61, and ‘62). He made the NCAA All-District Four Team in 1960, as a sophomore, and again in his senior year in 1962. His career-batting average was .385. He scored 87 runs and had eight triples along with 25 stolen bases. He was also MVP and captain of the 1962 team. Thomas signed with the Boston Red Sox in 1962, played two years, managed two seasons in the Red Sox Farm System, and was a scout since 1966. He sent 13 players to the majors in his two-year stint as manager.
