Edward "Zip" Zednick was an All-Ohio football end and guard in 1947 and was on the first All-Mid-American Conference Football team. He lettered three years in wrestling, captaining the team his senior year. His fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha, named him Second Team All-American in football in 1942. During military service, Zednick was on the 11th Airborne football team that won the Pacific Army Olympics Football Championship in 1945. In 1972, he was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame in Columbus, Ohio.
