As a three-year letter winner for Ohio's swimming & diving team, John Botuchis helped the Bobcats to Mid-American Conference titles in 1953 and 1954. Botuchis was a three-time league champion in the one-meter diving competition (1953, 1954, 1955) and was a two-time champion on the three-meter board (1954, 1955). Botuchis went undefeated on both boards as a junior and senior and only suffered one loss as a sophomore. In addition, he won the Central Collegiate title for both the one- and three-meter boards in 1953 and placed third in the 50-yard freestyle. He graduated in 1956 with a BS in Education.
