With only one interception in 98 passes in 1961, he set a national record for pass-interception avoidance. Babbitt was a First Team All-MAC honoree in 1962. That season was his best, passing for 1,010 yards and 9 TD’s. He played in Ohio’s first bowl game, the 1962 Sun Bowl, and was named Most Valuable Player by the Green & White Club. Ohio was 23-6-1 during his playing career, and he finished second in career total offense with 1,649 yards. His career 100 completions and 12 TD’s were both second highest on record at the time of his induction. His MAC game completion average of .558 was first in the league, and he was fourth in total yards in the MAC at the time of induction. He was a member of Varsity O and Omicron Delta Kappa.
