Clark Gabriel was an All-Ohio and All-Buckeye football at wingback-quarterback in 1930 and 1931. He lettered in football in 1929, 1930, and 1931. The 1929 football team was Ohio University’s first undefeated and untied team in nine games. The 1930 team was also undefeated with a record of 8 wins, no losses, and one tie. The 1931 team was 7-1-0. He was a high scorer both in 1930 and 1931. In his playing career, he was 24-1-1. He played on all three title teams.
