Nick Lalich was a First-Team All-Ohio and All-Buckeye Athletic Association standout all three years in 1936, 1937, and 1938. He led the league in scoring in 1936 with 135 points and totaled 347 career points in the Buckeye League. His career point total of 610 points (9.4 points per game) led his team, and he was known as one of Ohio University’s “Big Four.” He played pro-basketball with the Youngstown Bears in 1945-1946, following a distinguished miliary career as Captain of the U.S. Army Office of Strategic Services from 1942 to 1945. He was instrumental in evacuating 517 downed U.S. fliers from Yugoslavia. He was decorated with the “Legion of Merit.”
