Larry Snyder led his college golf team two of his three years of competition with averages of 73.6, 75.3 and 76.1. He was a 13-time medalist in his college years and set the course record of 29 at the Athens Country Club. At the time of induction, he shared it with Ohio’s best-known golfer, Dow Finsterwald. He helped his team win the prestigious Greenbrier Tournament in 1960 with a 77-74-151 score. He was accorded first team honors on the Mid-American Conference golf teams of 1958, 1959 and 1960. He shot the lowest round in the NCAA qualifying round in 1960 and won his first match in two NCAA competitions. He was a golf pro for six years (from 1960-1966). He coached the Marshall University golf team of 1961 to an 8-4 record. He was Ohio's "Outstanding Golfer” in 1959 when he was runner-up for medalist honors. A native of Athens, he won the ACC championship six years running (1954-1959, inclusive). He qualified and played in the 1964 U.S. Open in Washington. He was voted Ohio’s Senior Athlete of the Year in 1966.
