John "Rosey" Kerns was accorded honorable mention All-American honors in 1946. He was named honorary captain for the Murray State game. A 6-3, 230-pound tackle, Kerns went on to play in the East-West Shrine Game in San Fransico in 1947. He signed with the Buffalo Bill and played for three years there (1947, 1948, and 1949). In 1950 and 1951, he played for the Toronto Argonauts and was line coach from 1950 to 1054. He holds the distinction of winning college football letters from Duke (1944) and from North Carolina (1944) He served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1945. He was a member of Varsity “O,” Ohio University letter-winners' organization.
