Shannan Ritchie was a two-time NCAA All-American (1988, 1989) honoree and a two-time NCAA All-District (1988, 1989) honoree.  He was a three-time NCAA All-District (1988, 1989) honoree. He was a two-time All-Ohio Champion (1986, 1988) and three-time Academic All-MAC (1986, 1988, 1989) honoree. He was the Ohio Cross Country Runner of the Year in 1988, where he placed 20th at NCAA CC Championships. In 1989, he placed 29th at NCAA CC Championships. He finished second at MAC CC Championships in 1986 and 1988. He was fifth at MAC Track Championships in the 5,000 meters in 1986 and Top Six at MAC Track Championships in the 10,000 meters, in 1988. At the time of his induction, he was the Ohio Record Holder in 5,000 meters (14:10,12), 8,000 meters (24:10), and 10,000 meters (29:56). In 1988 and 1989, he was the Team MVP and Co-MVP in 1986. He was Senior Co-Athlete of the Year in 1989.
