Hall of Fame
At the time of his induction, Richard Murphy was the only two-time, First-Team All-American in Ohio University’s long and successful baseball history. He also lettered three years in basketball. He was All-MAC in baseball in 1953 and 1954. He hit .361 in 1954 and .305 in 1952. At the time of induction, Murphy still held several records: Most Runs Scored (80), Most Hits (fourth with 96), tied for Most Triples (with 7), tied for Most Stolen Bases (17). He signed with the Cincinnati Redlegs organization.
