Hall of Fame
During his senior season, Criss Somerlot placed third at conference championships in the hammer throw. He was a two-time Ohio class A discus champion and previous school record holder at Ohio University in the hammer. In the NCAA, his achievements include a three-person record in the hammer in 1968, reset in 1969, and held until 1974. He has been an instrumental coach and event speaker in track and field. He served as clinic director for the USATF Super Clinic at the ‘96, ‘00 and ‘04 Olympic Trials. He has worked with Nike to design running and throwing shoes. He has been the USATF Director of Throws since 2002.
