Prior to Ohio: Played softball for Sparks Softball and Plainfield North High School, where she has earned three varsity letters. In 2018, Shaughnessy hit .492 with 25 RBI, 41 runs scored and 13 stolen bases. In 2017, Shaughnessy played in 33 games, recording a .435 batting average in 105 at bats. She drove in 24 runs while swiping 11 bases. Shaughnessy was named All-Conference and All-State in 2018. In 2017, she helped lead Plainfield North to the conference regional and section championships, while in 2018, she helped Plainfield North finish the season as state runner-ups. Her favorite memory on the softball field was in 2018 when Shaughnessy hit a three-run walk off homerun in the Super Sectional game to send Plainfield North to the state championships. 

Personal: Shaughnessy is the daughter of Jennifer and Mike Shaughnessy, and she has two sisters, Peyton and Devyn. Shaughnessy plans to major in Psychology where she hopes to one day become a clinical psychologist.
