OXFORD, Ohio – The second-seeded Ohio softball team (23-23) open the 2022 Mid-American Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 12 when it takes on No. 3 Central Michigan. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. inside the Miami Softball Field on the campus of Miami.
All games will be streamed on ESPN+, while
Jake Hromada will have the audio call streamed on OhioBobcats.com and YouTube.
After two years, the MAC Softball Tournament returns, this time in a four-team, double elimination format that will take play May 12-14. Since Miami won the regular season, the RedHawks will host this year's championship.
This year's field includes host, Miami, the Bobcats, Central Michigan, and Bowling Green.
The Bobcats enter the tournament with a 23-23 record and finished MAC play with a 17-10 record to help secure the second seed. Four Bobcats earned All-MAC Honors with fifth year
Allie Englant (Long Beach, Calif.) and sophomore
Annalia Paoli (Point Marion, Pa.) earned First Team recognition, while fifth year
Brooke Rice (Mason, Ohio) and graduate student
Megan McMenemy (Westerville, Ohio) earned a spot on the All-MAC Second Team.
If the Bobcats win, they will take on the winner of No. 1 Miami and No. 4 Bowling Green on Friday, May 15 at 3:30 p.m. If the Bobcats fall, they will return for the loser's bracket game set for Friday, May 14 at 1 p.m.
