
Three Ohio Softball Members Named to 2026 Academic All-District® Softball Team

ATHENS, Ohio -- Three members of the Ohio softball team were named to the 2026 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced today (May 26). Seniors Colleen Bare, Belle Hummel and Shelby Westler all earned the honor.
This is the first time Bare (Pickerington, Ohio), the Sociology and Criminology major with a 3.877 GPA, has earned the Academic All-District honor for the first time in her career. This season, Bare played and started in all 58 games for the Bobcats. Bare hit .369 with 66 hits, 15 doubles, one triple and a team and MAC-leading 16 home runs. She also added 49 RBI and a .732 slugging percentage, while drawing 30 walks and sporting a .485 on base percentage. Bare also stole seven bases and scored 64 runs. Bare was also named First Team All-MAC and to the MAC All-Tournament Team.
Hummel (Cincinnati, Ohio), a Community and Public Health major with a 3.748 GPA, earns a spot on the Academic All-District® Softball Team for the second time in her career. Hummel is coming off an historic season at the plate for the Bobcats, hitting .462 with 91 hits, 19 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 44 RBI, while scoring 82 runs and recording 141 total bases. She registered a .716 slugging percentage and drew 35 walks and had a .547 on base percentage. Hummel played and started in all 58 games for the Bobcats this season and in the field had a .972 fielding percentage with 103 putouts, three assists and three errors.
This season, Hummel set the Ohio single season record in batting average, hits and run scored and the Mid-American Conference single season record in hits and runs scored. She led the MAC this season in batting average, hits, runs scored and on base percentage. Hummel was named First Team All-MAC, All Great Lakes Region Second Team and to the MAC All-Tournament Team.
This is the third time that Westler (Marion, Ohio), a Finance and Marketing major with a 3.846 GPA, has earned a spot on the Academic All-District® Softball Team. Westler is also coming off a stellar final season with the Bobcats. This season, Westler played and started all 58 games at third base, hitting .356 with 63 hits, 18 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 43 runs scored and 66 RBI. She recorded a .616 slugging percentage, 109 total bases and drew 21 walks with a .419 on base percentage. In the field, Westler handled the hot corner, recording 46 putouts, 81 assists and nine errors for a .934 fielding percentage.
This season, Westler set the Ohio single season record in RBI and led the MAC in the same category. Westler was also named Second Team All-MAC and Second Team All-Great Lakes Region.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 16, 2026.
