
Four Ohio Softball Players Earn All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND – Four Ohio softball student athletes earned All Mid-American Conference honors, the league announced today (May 11). Fifth year Allie Englant and sophomore Annalia Paoli earned First Team All-MAC honors, while fifth year Brooke Rice and graduate student Megan McMenemy earned a spot on the All-MAC Second Team.This is the second time that Englant (Long Beach, Calif.) has earned a spot on an All-MAC Team, and her first time as a first team selection. In conference play, the centerfielder hit .379 with 33 hits in 87 at bats. She scored 24 runs, hit nine doubles, two triples and two homeruns, while recording 12 RBI. She drew 11 walks and was 15-18 in stolen bases. Her first homerun of the season came on April 6 against Akron, where she hit a walk-off three run homerun. Her second came on April 15 when she hit one against CMU. Overall, on the season Englant was second on the Bobcats with a .372 batting average, while registering 35 runs, 54 hits, 12 doubles, three triples, two homeruns and 18 RBI.
This is the first selection for Paoli (Point Marion, Pa.) to an All-MAC team. In MAC play, Paoli led Ohio with a .407 batting average, recording 37 hits in 91 at bats. Playing every game at third, Paoli hit two doubles, two triples and nine homeruns, while recording a team-leading 32 RBI and 70 total bases. She had a .769 slugging percentage, drew nine walks, and had three stolen bases. Overall, on the season, Paoli hit .382 with 55 hits, five doubles, three triples and a team-leading 11 homeruns and 39 RBI. Paoli also earned the MAC Player of the Week honor three times during the season.
This is the first time that Rice (Mason, Ohio) has earned a spot on an All-MAC Team. The second teamer put together the best season of her career, hitting .289 in MAC play, while recording 22 hits in 76 at bats. The catcher recorded four doubles, seven homeruns, 16 RBI and registered a .618 slugging percentage. Overall, this season Rice hit .301 with 37 hits, 16 runs scored, nine doubles, a career-high eight homeruns and 26 RBI. She drew 18 walks and registered a .569. A dynamic catcher, Rice registered a .968 fielding percentage in MAC play, recording 131 putouts, 12 assists and committed only two errors. She also allowed only eight stolen bases and threw out three runners.
Finally, in her first and only season in the Green and White, McMenemy (Westerville, Ohio) earned a spot on the All-MAC Second Team. The shortstop hit .319 in MAC play, while recording 30 hits in 94 at bats. She registered 17 runs scored, five doubles, one triple and four homeruns to go along with 12 RBI. She drew 11 walks and had a .521 slugging percentage. Overall, this season McMenemy was third on the Bobcats with a .317 batting average, with 46 hits in 145 at bats. She recorded 10 doubles, two triples and five homeruns for 20 RBI and a .517 slugging percentage. McMenemy was also named the MAC Player of the Week once this season.
All four All-MAC honorees and the rest of the Ohio softball team open play at the 2022 MAC Tournament on Thursday, May 12. The No. 2 Bobcats will take No. 3 Central Michigan at 1 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio.
