ATHENS, Ohio – The 2025-26 season is winding down! Track and field heads to Muncie, Ind., for the 2026 MAC Outdoor Championships, while baseball concludes the 2026 regular season! Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints, presented by Memorial Health System.

The Ohio track and field team heads to Muncie, Ind. May 14-16 for the 2026 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The three-day event is hosted by Ball State at the Briner Sports Complex. Competition at this year's MAC Championships begins at 10 a.m. ET on Thursday, May 14 and again on Friday, May 15. The MAC Championships conclude on Saturday, May 16, starting at 9 a.m. ET, with the awards ceremony set for 3:15 p.m. ET. All three days will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Bobcats are coming off solid performances last weekend at the Billy Hayes Invitational and the Akron Last Chance Invitational.
At the Billy Hayes Invitational, two Bobcats represented Ohio in the mid-distance events. Senior Sophie Besett competed in the women's 800m invite and junior Ellie Greenwell competed in the women's 1500m invite. In the women's 800m invite, Besett took home ninth place with a time of 2:08.69. Greenwell went on to win the women's 1500m invite with a time of 4:18.30.
At the Akron Last Chance Invitational, sophomores Ashley Cornathan and Kiyah Baker recorded personal-best marks in the hammer throw. Cornathan placed seventh (47.62m/156-2, PR) and Baker took home ninth place (43.82m/143-9, PR). Sophomore Emma Hayes took home second place in the women's javelin with a personal-best mark of 32.43 meters (106-4).
Graduate student Jasmine Correa was Ohio's top performer in the women's shot put. Correa recorded a personal-best mark of 13.16 meters (43-2.25), placing sixth overall. Sophomore Lauren Mader competed in the 'Invite' section in the discus, placing second with a mark of 46.11 meters (151-3).

The Ohio baseball team (10-41, 7-23 MAC) concludes the 2026 regular season this week when it heads to Ypsilanti, Mich., May 14-16 for a three-game series against Eastern Michigan (17-32, 10-20 MAC). The series begins on Thursday, May 14, with a 3 p.m. ET scheduled first pitch. The Bobcats and the Eagles are back in action on Friday, May 15 at 3 p.m. ET, before concluding the season on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. ET. All three games will take place at Oestrike Stadium and be seen on ESPN+.
The Bobcats picked up a win last weekend in the series opener against Toledo, defeating the Rockets, 4-3 in 10 innings Friday night. On the hill, freshman Mason Gass delivered a strong performance, allowing two runs on seven hits and two errors across six and two-thirds innings. Senior Dillon Masters came on in relief in the seventh inning and went the rest of the way, allowing one run on three hits and one error in going three and a third innings and earning the win. Offensively, junior left fielder Cameron Boyd provided a spark for the Bobcats, going two-for-five with two of Ohio's four RBI, including a game-tying two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Eastern Michigan is 17-32 overall and 10-20 in MAC play and is coming off a three-game series at Kent State last weekend, where EMU took the second game in extra innings. EMU will take on Michigan State on Tuesday before hosting the Bobcats. Ty Stecko leads the Eagles at the plate, batting .289 with 50 hits, 11 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 39 RBI, while John Hale is hitting .280 with 46 hits, 13 doubles, five home runs and 24 RBI. Devan Zirwas leads EMU with 14 doubles, 13 home runs and 51 RBI. On the mound, John Carmichael is 2-6 with a 6.00 ERA, recording 19 walks and 60 strikeouts in 66.0 innings pitched.
