Â
The Bobcats scored four runs while racking up eight hits, and they did not commit an error, while the Eagles scored nine runs on 11 hits while committing one error.
Â
The game opened with a pitchers' duel as both teams went through the first three innings scoreless. Sophomore lefty Hunter Winston (Hinckley, Ohio) got the start for the Bobcats and had a great day on the mound, throwing six innings, allowing one run while notching six strikeouts.Â
Â
Following the first game of the series that saw the Bobcats lose after getting shut out, the bats got going in the fourth inning, as junior outfielder Cameron Boyd (Villa Hills, Ky.) and fifth-year infielder Will Henson (Chicago, Ill.) teamed up for back-to-back home runs in the top of the inning.Â
Â
After a couple of singles, junior catcher Tyler Stack (Oswego, Ill.) laid down a sacrifice bunt that would score another run.Â
Â
Winston delivered another scoreless frame in the bottom of the fourth, making the score 3-0 going into the fifth inning.Â
Â
Ohio's offense would stay hot at the top of the fifth, driving in another run as senior infielder Reese Harmon (Columbus, In.) would hit an RBI single that scored junior outfielder Taylor Harris (Parrish, Fla.).
Â
In the bottom of the inning, the Eagles would get on the board for the first time in the game after an RBI ground out, making the score 4-1 going into the sixth.Â
Â
The sixth inning was similar to the start of the game, as both teams were able to get a man on base but failed to score him. The seventh inning was more of the same as the inning ended scoreless, sending the game into the eighth inning with Ohio up 4-1.Â
Â
The Bobcats went 1-2-3 in the top of the inning, but Eastern Michigan took advantage of the Ohio bats cooling down as the Eagles took the lead with an eight-run eighth inning.Â
In the top of the ninth, Ohio once again got a man on base, but with two outs the Bobcats failed to score, ending the game with a final score of 9-4.Â
Â
Up next, Ohio will take on Eastern Michigan tomorrow (May 16) in the series finale, which will be the final game of Ohio's season. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN+.
