ATHENS, Ohio –It's Senior Day for Ohio swim and dive, while Ohio men's basketball hosts another nationally televised game inside the Convo! Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Ohio men's basketball team (11-8, 5-2 MAC) is back in action this week for two MAC matchups starting on Tuesday, Jan. 28 when Ohio hosts Toledo (11-8, 5-2 MAC). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN2. Tuesday is Coaches vs. Cancer Night in the Convo. Ohio then hits the road on Saturday, Feb. 1 for the first installment of the 'Battle of the Bricks' when the Bobcats head to Oxford, Ohio to take on Miami (14-5, 6-1 MAC). Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. inside Millett Hall. 

Ohio is coming off a 1-1 week that saw Ohio defeat Kent State on Friday night inside the Convocation Center. Junior guard Jackson Paveletzke led the Bobcats. Overall, Paveletzke averaged 21.5 points a game, while going 16-of-21 (.762) from the field, 2-of-3 (.667) from three and 9-of-12 (.750) from the line. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.5 steals a game. On Jan. 21 at Eastern Michigan, Paveletzke scored a career-high 28 points, going 11-of-14 from the field, 1-of-1 from three and 5-of-8 from the line. He also added six rebounds and three assists. On Jan. 24 against Kent State, Paveletzke was stellar, scoring 15 points, going 5-of-7 from the field, 1-of-2 from three and 4-of-4 from the line. He also added one rebound, one assist and one steal. Paveletzke's play proved clutch, when with under two minutes to go in the game and Ohio down one, Paveletzke hit his first three of the night, giving Ohio a two-point lead that they would not surrender over the fine seconds, securing the 61-59 victory for the Bobcats.

Toledo enters the matchup with the Bobcats with an 11-8 mark overall and a 5-2 MAC record. The Rockets are coming off a victory over Bowling Green Friday night on the road. Miami is 14-5 overall and 6-1 in the MAC and are coming off a road loss at Akron Saturday afternoon. The RedHawks will host Eastern Michigan on Tuesday before welcoming the Bobcats to town.

Ohio women's basketball (4-14, 2-6 MAC) is back in action this week for two more MAC matchups. The week begins on Wednesday, Jan. 29 when the Bobcats host Ball State (16-4, 8-0 MAC). Tip-off is set got 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. Wednesday will be our National Girls and Women in Sports Day Game and Girl Scout Night in the Convo. Ohio then heads to Oxford, Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 1 to take on Miami (11-7, 4-4 MAC). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside Millett Hall and can be seen on ESPN+. 

Ohio is coming off a 1-1 week this week that saw the Bobcats take down Eastern Michigan at home on Saturday afternoon. On Saturday,sophomore Bailey Tabeling recorded her first career double-double with a team-high 21 points and career-best 10 rebounds. Tabeling finished 7-of-14 from the field, 3-of-9 from beyond the arc, and 4-of-8 from the free-throw line. Tabeling also tallied a team-high four steals and three assists.
 
Ball State comes to Athens with a 16-4 mark overall and an undefeated 8-0 record in MAC play, with the Cardinals coming off a win at NIU on Saturday. Miami enters the matchup 11-7 overall and 4-4 in MAC play. The RedHawks are coming off a loss against Kent State on Saturday and will travel to Toledo on Wednesday before hosting the Bobcats.

The Ohio track and field team is back in action for two events this weekend. First, on Jan. 31, the Bobcats head to Akron, Ohio for the 2025 Akron Invitational. The event is set to begin at 4 p.m. inside the Stile Athletics Field House. Ohio will also head to South Bend, ind. for the 2025 Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at Meyo Field. The event ill begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, with Saturday's events set to begin at 11:30 a.m. and can be seen on ACCN+.   

Ohio is coming off a successful weekend at the Crossroads of America Invitational Jan. 24-25 in Indianapolis Ind. One of the major highlight of the weekend was Ohio's first-place finish in the women's distance medley relay. Freshman Kaitlyn Stewart, senior Taja Booker, junior Sara Doughman and sophomore Ellie Greenwell recorded a time of 11:50.38. Greenwell also placed fourth in the mile with a time of 4:52.94.

The Ohio swimming and diving team returns to action for their final home and dual meet of the regular season Jan. 31-Feb. 1 when Ohio hosts Eastern Michigan. On Friday, the day will begin at 6 p.m with one board and seven swim events. Then on Saturday, the day will begin with Senior Day festivities at 11 a.m., followed by one board and seven swim events. Both days will be seen on ESPN+. Prior to the start of Saturday's events, seniors, Raphaelle Anglade, Edie Sawyer, Julia Strine, Gabrielle McKee and Sophie Cooper will be honored in a pre-meet ceremony for their time in the Green and White. 

Ohio is coming off a 172-128 victory at Marshall on Jan. 24. Sophomore Zita Szoke picked up three individual victories, one relay victory and broke three pool records in the process. In her first event of the night, the 200-yard freestyle, Szoke placed first with a time of 1:49.50, she returned later for the 50 free, once again picking up a first-place finish with a time of 23.22. In her final individual event of the night, the 100 free, Szoke placed first with a time of 49.82. All three individual event victories broke the Marshall pool record. Szoke wrapped up the night in the 200 free relay, helping the Bobcats place first with a time 1:34.12.

WRESTLING

The Ohio wresting team (5-3, 3-1 MAC) is back in action in Athens on Sunday, Feb 2 when the Bobcats host Central Michigan (4-5, 2-0 MAC). The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. inside the Convocation center and can be seen on ESPN+. 

Ohio is coming off a crushing last-second defeat against NIU on Saturday night in Athens, falling 21-20 in the Convo. No. 10 NCAA-ranked redshirt junior Garrett Thompson once again showcased his dominance in the 174-pound class, earning a 15-4 major decision over Tommy Bennett,  while No. 21 NCAA-ranked redshirt senior Jordan Greer (Avon, Ohio) faced a tough challenge against Jacob Christensen in the heavyweight class but secured a commanding 15-3 major decision.n

CMU enters the matchup with a 4-5 overall record and a 2-0 mark in MAC play. CMU last defeated Cleveland State on Jan. 19 and will take on Campbell, American and CSU Bakersfield this Sunday in Washington DC before heading to Athens on Feb. 2.
