
Ohio Women’s Basketball Adds UTEP Transfer, Irene Asensio Mañosa to Roster

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio women's basketball team has added transfer Irene Asensio Mañosa to its roster for the 2026-27 season, as announced by head coach Bob Boldon on Wednesday, June 10.
"We are very excited to add Irene to our team. She is a great basketball player with a great personality," head coach Bob Boldon said. "She will be a terrific addition to our program on and off the court."

Irene Asensio Mañosa joins the Bobcats after playing two seasons at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). In her two seasons, Asensio Mañosa played in 45 games, made 10 starts and averaged 13.7 minutes per game. At UTEP, she compiled 95 points; shooting 29.0 percent from the field, 21.6 percent from the arc and 80.0 percent from the line. Asensio Mañosa averaged 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds per game with the Miners.
Outside of her collegiate career, Asensio Mañosa played for Spain's national team. She started representing Spain at the youth level before helping her team to a silver medal at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's Eurobasket. The junior also helped Spain earn a second-place finish at the 2022 FIBA U16 Women's European Championships. Most recently, Asensio Mañosa was selected for and will attend the training camp for Spain's U21 3x3 National Team.
Asesio Mañosa is the daughter of Manuel Asensio Ortega and Esther Mañosa Gomez. She has two sisters, Marina and Paula. Her sister, Marina, played collegiate basketball at USF, Western Michigan and Utah State. Asensio Mañosa intends on majoring in marketing.
