Softball’s Hoffner Earns 2024 NFCA All-Mideast Region Third Team Honors

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio softball junior catcher Emma Hoffner was named to the 2024 NFCA All-Mideast Region Third Team, the organization announced this afternoon (May 16).
Hoffner (New Stanton, Pa.) played and started all 55 games for the Bobcats behind the plate during the 2024 season. Hoffner led Ohio with a .325 batting average, with 52 hits, 12 doubles, one triple and five home runs during the season. She drove in 30 runs and scored 32, while recording a .506 slugging percentage. Hoffner drew 20 walks, had a .410 on base percentage and stole all four bases she attempted. Behind the plate, Hoffner was a brick wall, recording a .982 fielding percentage with 271 catches, 237 putouts, 29 assists and five errors, whole throwing out 11 runners.
In MAC play, Hoffner hit .301 with 25 hits in 83 at bats. She recorded six doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI, while scoring 25 runs. She had a .518 slugging percentage and a .356 on base percentage. Behind the plate, Hoffner had a .977 fielding percentage, with 131 catches, 110 putouts, 18 assists and three errors, while throwing out six base runners.
Hoffner finished with 12 multi-hit games, four multi-RBI games and scored multiple runs in five games. Hoffner went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and four RBI against Akron on April 30 and went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI against NIU on April 6.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2024 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
The 2024 NFCA Division I All-America teams, voted on by the NFCA DI All-American Committee, will be announced on May 31.
