HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trading points to start, Ohio rallied off a 6-2 run to take an 11-5 lead. Nelson and Bull each had two kills during this run, while Kosiorek, Salis and Gilleland tagged one of their own. The Bobcats pushed to a ten-point lead and sat on match-point 24-14, then Seton Hall picked up some late momentum. A 6-0 run for the Pirates put them down four to Ohio 24-20, but an attack error from the Pirates ended the set 25-20.
- The second set saw a 5-5 tie until a Pirate attack error and a kill from Bull put the Bobcats up two points. Ohio saw their largest lead of the second set 15-10, but three kills for Seton Hall and Ohio errors had the Pirates down 16-15. Attack errors haunted Ohio the next four plays, and Seton Hall took their first lead of the match 19-16. Battling from behind, Ohio tied the set at 23 after a Pirates mistake. Kills from Bull and freshman outside hitter Stephanie Olman (Maumee, Ohio) helped finish the set off for the Green and White 26-24.
- Four kills to start the third set helped propel Seton Hall to a 5-2 lead over Ohio. The Bobcats rallied from behind again on a 10-7 run to take their first lead of the set. Kosiorek’s three aces in a row helped spark the Bobcats at the end of the run, resulting in a Seton Hall timeout. The Pirates fell victim to a 21-15 Ohio lead, and took their second timeout of the set. Successful attacks from Shelby Walker and Lake along with Seton Hall’s offensive errors closed the set 25-19.
QUOTABLE
"We did a nice job of blocking today and Karin was excellent in transition. In the third set, our serve started contributing as well. The second set was filled with dominant play, but our errors made it closer than we would have liked. When we play Utah in the morning, we will need to do a better job serving aggressively to limit their in system swings." â€" second-year head coach Deane Webb
