During the 2024-25 season, Closson helped coached the Bobcats to a second-place MAC Championship finish, the highest since 2013. Ohio saw several school records fall throughout the season, including the 50-, 100- and 200-yard free, 100- and 200-yard breaststroke as well as the 200- and 400-yard medley relays and 400-yard free relay. Zita Szoke won the 50-,100- and 200-yard free events and Casadie DiBetta won the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events. Norman also coached Allison Schrank, DiBetta, Szoke and Caroline Dunigan to a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Gabrielle McKee, Emily Ellsworth and Dunigan received First Team All-MAC honors while Julia Strine and Morgan Brown received Second Team All-MAC honors.
Closson comes to Ohio after spending time as the Lead coach for Mecklenburg Swim Association Indian Trail Advanced Age, Advanced Senior, Bronze, and Blue groups. While there, Closson implemented new training programs for all groups while increasing performance and overall group retention. He also collaborated with a Novant Health strength and conditioning coach to design a dryland program for Advanced Age Group swimmers.
Prior to his time at MSA Indian Hills, Closson spent two years as the Lead coach for MSA Moss Creek Silver, Gold, and Senior groups, where he developed weekly, monthly, and seasonal training programs for each group of athletes to maximize performance.
Closson also spent time in the MAC prior to his time with MSA, spending two years at Bowling Green as a volunteer assistant coach. While there, Closson was the primary coach for the sprint group and breaststroke group. He was involved in decision making process for training schedule, meet line-ups, traveling, and various other aspects of the team.
Closson is a 2019 graduate of Bowling Green, while he earned a degree in sport management with a minor in general business.
