Ohio Softball Adds Alexandria Whitmore as Assistant Coach

ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio softball has added Alexandria Whitmore as an assistant coach, head coach Paige McMenemy announced today (July 10).Â
Whitmore spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Kent State.Â
"I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity to join Ohio University Athletics," Whitmore said. "I'm grateful to be part of a program committed to excellence, and I can't wait to invest in the growth and success of our student-athletes both on and off the field."
In her time at Kent State, Whitmore helped coach four All-MAC selections, including three in 2025, which was the most in five years. In 2026, Whitmore helped coach Aaralyn Nogay to All-MAC Second Team honors, hitting .416 and was tied for second in the conference in stolen bases going 11-for-17 in MAC play. Defensively, Nogay recorded 50 catches and 48 put outs posting a fielding percentage of .980. Nogay also set a new single season record in stolen bases overall this season taking 30 bags on 36 attempts.
A five-year letterwinner and two-year captain at Kent State, Whitmore appeared in 157 games for the Golden Flashes from 2020-24. She earned All-MAC Second Team honors in 2023 and finished her career with 109 hits and 77 runs scored. Whitmore led the Mid-American Conference with seven triples in2024, one away from tying the school record, and finished in a tie for fourth in program history with 11 career triples.Â
During the 2022 season, she earned the No. 1 Play of the Week from NCAA Softball on March 5 after avoiding a tag attempt by the catcher to score in a game against Drake. Whitmore earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors in 2024.
