
Four Bobcats Qualify for Finals on Day 2 of the MAC Outdoor Championships

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ohio women's track and field concluded day two of competition of the 2026 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 15.
Four Bobcats led the team in the track preliminaries, qualifying for the finals of their respective events. The Bobcats will have a total of six athletes competing in the finals of the running events on Saturday.
Junior Jada Irwin (Fairfield, Ohio) got it started for Ohio in the women's 400m preliminaries. Irwin placed fifth overall and second in her heat with a time of 55.18.
Freshman Alyvia Mentlow kept the ball rolling with a qualifying performance in the women's 100m preliminaries. Mentlow placed ninth overall with a time of 11.88. The freshman will race in the finals of the women's 200m and 100m.
Junior Ellie Greenwell (Park Hills, Ky.) and senior Sophie Besett (Twinsburg, Ohio) earned spots in the finals of the women's 800m. Greenwell won her heat with a career-best time of 2:08.09 and placed second overall in the event. Greenwell's time is the third-fastest outdoor time in program history. Besett also won her heat with a time of 2:09.22, placing sixth overall. Both athletes will compete in the finals with Greenwell qualifying for the 1500m and 800m.
Graduate student Jasmine Correa (Holland, Mich.) led Ohio in the field events, finishing 12th overall in the women's shot put. Correa recorded two PR's in her first two attempts, finishing with a personal-best mark of 13.41 meters (44-0). Freshman Kewogo Bendick also earned a 12th place finish in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.69 meters (18-8).
Ohio concluded the day with the women's 3000m steeplechase. Sophomore Mairin O'Brien (Lewis Center, Ohio) led Ohio in the event with a ninth-place time of 10:41.04. Sophomore Eva Hensley (Cincinnati, Ohio) took home 14th place with a time of 10:57.21.
The Bobcats are set to conclude the MAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday, May 16.
