ATHENS, Ohio--The Ohio Bobcats Baseball Team (10-41, 7-23 MAC) took on the Toledo Rockets (27-25, 20-10 MAC) Â on Sunday afternoon (May 10) for their Senior Day game. Ohio would drop the series finale by a score of 8-3.
Â
The Bobcats scored three runs on eight hits with four errors, while the Rockets added eight runs on 11 hits with one error.
Â
On the hill, freshman lefthander Evan Lichtenauer (Newark, Ohio) got the start, allowing two runs on four hits across a strong six and two thirds innings. Four additional Bobcats would take the mound in the game.
Â
At the plate, junior catcher Tyler Stack (Oswego, Ill.) continued his recent hot streak, going two-for-three with a double and an RBI. After his first two at-bats, Stack was six for his past six at bats dating back to Saturday's game.
Â
After a scoreless first three innings, the Bobcats struck first in the bottom of the fourth. Senior infielder Dylan Shepherd (Barrie, Ontario) got the rally started with a single to left field, before advancing to third on an error. Stack followed with a single to center, his fifth hit in as many at bats, scoring Shepherd for the first run of the game.
Â
The Bobcats would add on another run in the sixth, when Shepherd laid down a bunt to score junior outfielder Cameron Boyd (Villa Hills, Ky.).
Â
The Rockets would answer back in the seventh and eighth, scoring four runs each to take an 8-2 lead.
Â
The Bobcats would put together a two-out rally in the ninth, starting when redshirt junior shortstop Cam Bryant (Miamisburg, Ohio) doubled to right field. After senior utilityman Cale Steinbaugh (Georgetown, Ill.) was hit by a pitch, senior infielder Reese Harmon (Columbus, Ind.) singled into right field to score Bryant.
Â
The Bobcats were unable to continue their rally, eventually dropping the game 8-3.
Â
The game marked the Bobcat's final game at Bob Wren Stadium of the 2026 season. The Bobcats will return to action for their final series of the regular season next Thursday (May 14) when they visit Eastern Michigan for the first of a three-game series.
