Ohio Women's Track & Field Records Multiple Personal Best Performances at the Gem City Invite

DAYTON, Ohio – The Ohio women's track & field team recorded multiple personal-best performances across several events at the Gem City Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 8.
There were several highlights to the day including a season-best time by Ohio in the women's 4x400m relay. Sophomore Jada Irwin (Fairfield, Ohio), junior Ashley Long (Hilliard, Ohio), senior Taja Booker (Simpsonville, S.C.) and freshman Ava Kincaid (Perrysburg, Ohio) placed second with a time of 3:52.35.
Another top performance of the day was freshman Kaitlyn Stewart's (Floyd Knobs, Ind.) collegiate debut in the women's 800m. Stewart won the event with an impressive time of 2:11.24. Three other Bobcats placed in the top 10 of the event. Junior Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) placed third with a PR of 2:12.60, junior Sophie Besett (Twinsburg, Ohio) placed fifth with a PR of 2:14.36 and freshman Jaclyn Garvey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) placed eighth with a PR of 2:16.14.
Booker kicked off the meet with a PR and qualifying time of 7.73 in the women's 60m. She went on to place seventh in the finals with a time of 7.80.
In the 400m, sophomore Elinor Shuttleworth (Beavercreek, Ohio) took home sixth with a PR of 57.83. In the 200m, Irwin placed fourth with a time of 25.89.
Senior Sarah Liederbach (Petoskey, Mich.) ran an sub-10 minute PR in the women's 3000m. Liederbach placed second with a time of 9:57.52.
Ohio competed in several field events at the meet including the long jump, pole vault, weight throw and shot put.
Freshman Kami Ayoup (Copley, Ohio) earned a PR in the women's long jump, finishing ninth with a mark of 5.18 meters (17-0).
Sophomore Emilee Baumann (Powell, Ohio) led Ohio in the women's pole vault. Baumann placed third with a mark of 3.40 meters (11-1.75).
Two Bobcats earned top 10 marks in the weight throw. Freshman Ashley Cornathan (Hilliard, Ohio) led Ohio with a sixth place and personal-best mark of 14.44 meters (47-4.5). Senior Millie Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) also recorded a personal best mark, finishing ninth in the event (13.68m/44-10.75).
Ohio's top performer in the women's shot put was freshman Lauren Mader (Green Bay, Wis.). Mader finished in 10th place with a personal-best mark of 11.55 meters (37-10.75).
The Bobcats will be back in action at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and Marshall Invitational on Friday, Feb. 14.
