Ohio Women's Track & Field Concludes Successful Weekend of Competition at Marshall & Boston University

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio women's track & field team finished a busy weekend of competition at the Marshall Invitational and David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 15.
David Hemery Valentine Invitational
A group of distance athletes represented Ohio in the women's 3000m. All six Bobcats placed in the top 200 runners of the event among a field of 253 finishers.
Senior Kelsi Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) led Ohio in the event, finishing 75th with a PR of 9:26.14. Juniors Leila Boussedra (Worthington, Ohio) and Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) also placed in the top 100 finishers. Boussedra finished 89th with a PR of 9:29.99 and Mason finished 97th with a time of 9:32.45.
Junior Allie Martin (Kingwood, W. Va.) recorded a PR of 9:35.31, finishing in 111th place. Freshman Kaitlyn Stewart (Floyd Knobs, Ind.) and sophomore Ellie Greenwell (Park Hills, Ky.) both made their collegiate debuts in the event. Stewart ran a time of 9:47.62 and Greenwell recorded a time of 9:56.50.
Marshall Invitational
Ohio kicked off day two of the meet with the women's 60m preliminaries. Senior Taja Booker (Simpsonville, S.C.) qualified for the finals with a sixth place and personal-best time of 7.72. In the finals, Booker did not finish the race. Five other Bobcats competed in the preliminaries and four recorded new PR's in the event. Booker also won the women's 200m with a season-best time of 24.58.
Ohio second event of the day was the women's mile. Junior Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) led the Bobcats with a third place and personal-best time of 4:54.75.
Ohio earned several top five finishes in the mid distance events. Sophomore Elinor Shuttleworth (Beavercreek, Ohio) took home fourth in the women's 400m (58.02). Freshman Jaclyn Garvey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and junior Sophie Besett (Twinsburg, Ohio) placed in the top five of the women's 800m. Garvey placed second (2:14.40, PR) and Besett followed behind in third place (2:15.46).
Sophomore Gracie Smith (Grove City, Ohio) recorded a season-best time of 9.22 in the women's 60m hurdles.
Sophomore Eliza Streit (Plain City, Ohio) was Ohio's lone runner in the women's 3000m. Streit placed second with a PR of 10:21.07.
Ohio's 4x400m relay team comprised of Shuttleworth, Garvey, Besett and sophomore Abby Wells (Hilliard, Ohio) placed second with a time of 4:03.05.
Two Bobcats placed in the top five of the women's shot put. Freshman Lauren Mader (Green Bay, Wis.) placed fourth with a PR of 12.38 meters (40-7.5) and senior Millie Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) placed fifth with a mark of 12.25 meters (40-2.25).
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Mid-American Conference Championships on Friday, Feb. 28.
