KETTERING, Ohio. – The Ohio women's golf team finished out their fall season with a strong third-place finish at the Dayton Flyer Invitational, hosted by Dayton, October 21-22 at the NCR Country Club. The Bobcats recorded an overall score of 916 (+76), with junior
Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, Arizona) leading the Bobcats with a tie for fourth place.
Butler captured the tournament title, followed by Akron (+69), the Bobcats in third, followed by Dayton (+78) in fourth place and Toledo (+81) in fifth.
As a team, Ohio kicked off the first round on Monday with a score of 294, followed by a 307 in the second round. The Bobcats concluded the tournament on Tuesday with a score of 315, solidifying their third-place standing.
Individually, McRee was the standout performer for the Bobcats, posting scores of 69 and 75 on day one, and finishing Tuesday with a 81 for a total score of 225 (+15), which earned her a tie for fourth out of 59 competitors.
Sophomore
Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio), finished tied for 16th, with rounds of 71 and 82 on Monday and concluding the tournament with a 77 for a total of 230 (+20). Sophomore
Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio) followed closely behind, finishing 19th, shooting scores of 78, 77, and 76 for an overall score of 231 (+21).
Senior
Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Indiana), was next, finishing tied for 23rd. Longstreth opened the tournament with scores of 76 and 73 on Monday, and closed out with a score of 85 for a total of 234 (+24).
Senior
Thanya Arasu (St Johns, Fla.) finished tied for 37th overall, opening the tournament with an 78, followed by a 82 in the second round and an 81 in the final round for a total of 241 (+31).
Competing as an individual for the Bobcats, freshman
Saylor Wharff (Marietta, Ohio) finished in 35th place. Wharff began the tournament with an 80 in round one, followed by an 76 and an 83 in the final two rounds, totaling 239 (+29).
The Bobcats will return to competition on February 9-11 at the 2025 Advance Golf Partners Collegiate. This three-day event will be hosted by UNC Greensboro at the Hammock Creek Golf Club in Palm City, Fla.
