
Luebbers Leads the Way for Women's Golf at the Brittany Kelly Classic

YORKTOWN, Indiana -- The Ohio women's golf team finished up play today (Sept. 19) at the Brittany Kelly Classic. After three rounds across two days, the Bobcats finished in seventh place with freshman Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio) placing in seventh individually.
The tournament, held at the Players Club, included a field of Ball State, UNC Asheville, Loyola, Western Michigan, Cleveland State, Purdue Fort Wayne, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, Western Illinois, Valparaiso, IUPUI and UIC. Ball State, who hosted the tournament, finished in first with a total score of 877 (+13).Â
The Bobcats had their best finish of the season. The tie for sixth came after three impressive team rounds of 307, 307, and 297. Ohio finished with a total team score of 911 (+47).Â
Luebbers stood out for the Bobcats over the three rounds. The freshman began the tournament with a Monday morning round of 73. She backed up her strong first round with a 75 to finish the first day in the top ten on the leaderboard. The Cincinnati native finished her final round shooting another impressive round of 73. Her strong play pushed her up three spots, where she finished in seventh after an aggregate score of 221 (+5).Â
Senior Mariana Vega-Rivera (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and junior Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Ind.) followed behind Luebbers finishing in a tie for 25th. Vega-Rivera had scores of 77, 79, and 73, tallying a total of 229 (+13). Longstreth performed consistently over the three rounds. Her three scores of 76, 78, 75 put her inside the top 25 on the leaderboard.Â
Freshman Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio) backed up a strong performance at the Jennifer Duke Invitational with a total score of 234 (+18). Her three scores of 81, 77, and 76 put her in a tie for 48th.Â
Junior Sloane Post (Centennial, Col.) improved over each round during the tournament. She started with a first round score of 81 and backed it up with scores of 77 and 76 to finish the tournament. Her total of 236 (+20) placed her in a tie for 56th.Â
Lastly, freshman Anna Coccia (New Albany, Ohio) rounded out the tournament for the Bobcats. Over the two days, Coccia had a total of 251 (+35) with round scores of 82, 83, and 86.Â

The Bobcats will head back out to the course on October 2 for the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational. The two-day tournament will take place in Ypsilanti, Mich. at the Eagle Crest Golf Club.Â
