
Women's Golf Finishes Play at Jennifer Duke Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Ohio women's golf team wrapped up play this afternoon (Sept. 12) at the Jennifer Duke Invitational finishing in 11th place. The tournament, held at Losantiville Country Club, was hosted by the University of Cincinnati and included a competitive field of Western Kentucky, Marshall, Xavier, Arkansas State, FIU, Akron, Western Michigan, and Dayton.Â
The Bobcats, over two days and three rounds, finished with a team score of 924 (+84). Ohio found themselves 70-strokes behind the tournament winners, Western Kentucky who shot an impressive 854 (+14). The Hilltoppers score was 34-strokes better than the second-place finisher, Marshall.Â
Ohio's first round was its strongest of the competition. The team totaled a score of 299, just nine strokes off the lead at the time. The Bobcats finished the first day of golf by shooting a 311 in the second round that afternoon. On Tuesday, Ohio finished its tournament with a combined score of 314.Â
Leading the way for the Bobcats was freshman Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio) who shot a 225 (+15) over the three rounds. She started Monday morning with a round of 77 and backed it up with weekend-best round of 73. The freshman finished the tournament with a 75 in her first collegiate appearance. Overall, Rodgers finished in a tie for 22nd.Â
Three Bobcats found themselves in a tie for 45th after Tuesday's final round with a total score of 234 (+24). Senior Mariana Vega-Rivera (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), junior Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Indiana), and freshman Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio) each accumulated a score of 234 following the two days of play. Vega-Rivera had scores of 74, 81, and 79. Longstreth's three rounds presented scores of 74, 80, and 80. Lastly, Luebbers left her mark on the tournament with rounds of 75, 79, and 80.Â
Junior Thanya Arasu (St. John's, Fla.) came in to the clubhouse in 63rd-place. The junior was the Bobcats' individual golfer for the tournament and finished with a three-round score 247 (+37). Arasu's three rounds were 83, 84, and 80 respectively.Â
Lastly for the Bobcats was sophomore Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, Ariz.). Unfortunately, after opening day scores of 76 and 79, the sophomore was forced to withdraw from the tournament and was unable to finish her final round.Â

The Bobcats will once again be traveling west as they head to Yorktown, Indiana to take part in the Brittany Kelly Classic. The tournament, hosted by Ball State, will take place at the Players Club Golf Course. The two-day event will start on Monday, Sept. 18 and finish Sept. 19.Â
