
Five Named to 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Team

ATHENS, Ohio – Five members of the Ohio softball team were named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced today (May. 16). Graduate student Kylie Coffelt, senior Alexis Dawe, juniors Annalia Paoli and Tori O'Brien and sophomore Emma Hoffner all earned the honor.Â

Coffelt (Beloit, Ohio), graduated with an MBA in Strategic Selling & Sales and a 3.541 GPA. Coffelt finished her career with the Bobcats with a 10-7 record and a 3.65 ERA. Coffelt made 28 appearances, while making 19 starts, including eight complete games. In 117 innings, Coffelt struck out 67 batters, while opponents hit .282 off her. Coffelt was also named the MAC Pitcher of the Week once this season.Â

Dawe (Valley Springs, Calif.) graduated with an undergraduate degree in Community and Public Health with a 3.689 GPA. Dawe played and started 50 games for the Bobcats this season, finishing second on the team with a .333 batting average. In 147 at bats, Dawe had 49 hits, seven doubles, two triples and two home runs, along with 25 RBI and 18 runs scored. Dawe also had a .449 slugging percentage, drew 21 walks, and had a .428 on base percentage. Dawe earned a spot on the All-Mac Second Team for the first time in her career.Â

Paoli (Point Marion, Pa.), a Mild-Moderate Education Needs major, sports a 3.56 GPA. Paoli finished the season leading the Bobcats with a .335 batting average, while playing and starting all 55 games for Ohio. In 179 at bats, Paoli had 60 hits, 13 doubles, two triples and a team-leading 12 home runs. Paoli recorded a team-leading 48 RBI, scored a team-high 43 runs, and had a .631 slugging percentage. Paoli earned MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week honors, as well as MAC Player of the Week honors and was named to the All-MAC First Team and the MAC All-Tournament Team.Â

O'Brien (Mason, Ohio), a Marketing major with a 3.620 GPA, played in 47 games for the Bobcats, while making 41 starts. O'Brien put together the best season of her career, hitting .321 with 35 hits in 109 at bats. O'Brien recorded one double, one triple, scored 16 runs and drove in eight, while drawing eight walks and registering a .349 slugging percentage. O'Brien also earned a spot on the All-MAC Second Team.Â

Hoffner (New Stanton, Pa.), an Exercise Physiology major with a 3.562 GPA, completed her first full season as a starter for the Bobcats, seeing action in 54 games and making 53 starts. Hoffner recorded a .318 batting average, with 49 hits, nine doubles, four triples and two home runs. She also scored 28 runs and drove in 31 runs. Hoffner sported a .487 slugging percentage, drew 21 walks, and had a .407 on base percentage. Hoffner also earned a spot on the Mac All-Tournament Team.Â

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All- America® honorees will be announced June 6. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.

Voting for the Academic All-America softball teams begins today at noon ET and closes Tuesday, May 23, at 11:59 pm ET. All CSC members are eligible to vote on the ballots in their division.
