MUNCIE, Ind.— The fourth-seeded Ohio baseball team (29-24) wrapped up the 2022 season today (May 27), falling 13-5 to No. 3 Toledo (33-24) at the 2022 Mid-American Tournament.

"This team was a good team," said head coach Craig Moore. " Good kids, good students, good people. They gave their everything throughout the whole year."

Individually, senior Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) went 1-for-3 with a grand slam while fifth year Isaiah Peterson (Lincoln, Neb.) hit a home run and scored twice.

The Bobcats opened the top of the first with two walks and a base hit, loading the bases with no outs. Minzey crushed a grand slam over the right field fence, giving Ohio a 4-0 lead.

Toledo answered in the bottom of the inning, tying the game on a single, triple and home run. The Rockets tacked on three more in the second, leaving the Bobcats trailing 7-4.

Toledo bats continued to produce runs, driving in three more with a double and a single in the sixth before senior pitcher Brendan Roder (Sioux City, Iowa) entered, recording three consecutive outs to end the inning.

Fifth year Isaiah Peterson (Lincoln, Neb.) chipped away at the Rocket's lead in the seventh with a solo home run, putting the score at 10-5. In the bottom of the eighth, another Rockets homer and a wild pitch scored three additional runs. Unable to rally, the Bobcats fell, 13-5.
