ATHENS, Ohio -- Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio), considered to be one of the greatest players in Ohio basketball history, will now continue her career in the WNBA. Hooks has signed as an undrafted free agent with Minnesota Lynx, the organization announced today (April 13). The point guard is coming off a season where she set a career-high for most points scored in a single season (646) and finished the year having averaged 22.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.9 steals per game.

"Cece has had an amazing career at Ohio," said Bobcats head coach Bob Boldon. "We're very proud of what she's accomplished and excited to see what she will do next! We want to wish her the best of luck as she embarks on a new chapter."

The senior had yet another in a long line of record setting years this season. Hooks set both the Ohio program and Mid-American Conference career scoring record in January, and went on to finish with 2,843 points during her illustrious time in Athens. Having already broken the Ohio and MAC career steals record several seasons ago, Hooks ended her time at Ohio with a total of 497 steals. With those two career totals, she is now the only player in NCAA women's basketball history to finish in the top-25 in career scoring (23rd) and top-5 in career steals (5th).

Hooks was voted the MAC Defensive Player of the Year for the past four seasons, becoming the first player in conference history to earn the award four times, and was also named MAC Player of the Year after her 2020-21 season alongside earning an All-American honorable mention. She also made the All-MAC First Team four times, the MAC All-Defensive Team four times, the All-MAC Third Team following her freshman year, and also made the MAC All-Freshman Team while being named the MAC Freshman of the Year. She earned MAC Player of the Week honor 15 times as a Bobcat.

Hooks more than doubled her double-double totals during the past season, finishing with 11 on the year and raising her career total to 20. She recorded one of the two triple doubles in Ohio women's basketball history when she finished with 31 points, 11 assists and 10 steals in a game against Miami in March of 2021, and tied the school record for most points in a single game when she scored 41 at Akron in February of 2020. She owns several other career and single-season records, including career made field goals, points per game in a single season, and total steals in a single season.

The Lynx will be playing their 24th season in the WNBA in 2022 and are coming off a 22-10 season in 2021, a finish that was good for a 2nd place finish in the Western Conference and the 3rd seed in the WNBA playoffs.
